1xBet has become an official partner of Barbados Tridents ahead of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League, announced this month. The agreement puts 1xBet branding on the Tridents' kit, stadium advertising hoardings, social media and promotional activities through a tournament that runs from August 7 to September 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What the Deal Actually Covers
So what does 1xBet actually get? Logo on the playing kit. Logo on the boundary boards at Tridents home games. A presence across the club's social media and promotional activities for the season. That's the confirmed scope - no sponsorship value has been disclosed, and neither side has released a contract summary beyond that.
The Caribbean Premier League continues to set new popularity records, attracting more than one billion viewers worldwide for two consecutive years. We are delighted to become involved in the CPL as a sponsor of one of its strongest teams, as 1xBet's main mission is to support the development and promotion of sport worldwide.

Our team have won the CPL twice, and last season we fell just short of the final. With the support of our new sponsor, 1xBet, we hope to improve on last year's result and claim the title for a third time.

Why CPL 2026 Is Attracting Global Betting Brands
A single billion-viewer season would be a big number for any T20 league. Two in a row, which is what CPL organizers are now citing, explains why a sponsor with 1xBet's global sports portfolio would bother with a seven-team Caribbean competition at all. For 2026, India's coverage runs through JioStar on television and FanCode plus the CPL's own YouTube channel for streaming, while YouTube also carries the tournament into Pakistan and Bangladesh alongside local partner TapMad.
Part of that pull is the players, not just the platforms. CPL rosters overlap heavily with the IPL and other leagues Indian audiences already follow - Faf du Plessis (Saint Lucia Kings, also of Chennai Super Kings), Chris Gayle (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Punjab Kings), Kieron Pollard (Trinbago Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians), Sunil Narine (Trinbago Knight Riders, Kolkata Knight Riders) and Romario Shepherd (Guyana Amazon Warriors, Royal Challengers Bengaluru) among them. Combine that with an August-to-September window that avoids clashing with the IPL, and CPL ends up as one of the few T20 leagues where a global betting operator can buy real reach across South Asia without competing for attention against a bigger domestic product.
Not 1xBet's First Cricket Deal
1xBet has been here before. Earlier in 2026, the operator signed as official partner of Sunrisers Eastern Cape, the most successful franchise in South Africa's SA20, with its logo on the team's match and training kit, stadium advertising and bench seating. It also ran a season-long partnership with the European Cricket Network from April through October 2025. Barbados Tridents just joins a list that already existed.
Cricket sits inside a much wider sponsorship portfolio. 1xBet's other current sports partnerships span football clubs including Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, Italy's Serie A, and governing bodies such as FIBA in basketball and CAF in African football, alongside volleyball sponsorships. Against that backdrop, a CPL franchise deal is a comparatively modest addition - but one aimed squarely at an audience the rest of that portfolio doesn't reach as directly.
Barbados Tridents' CPL History
Barbados Tridents isn't some expansion side chasing its first trophy. It's one of the CPL's original franchises, and one of the more decorated ones - titles in 2014 and 2019, both against Guyana Amazon Warriors, the second settled by 27 runs. Add runner-up finishes in 2015 and 2022 and that's four finals across thirteen CPL seasons, dating back to the league's first year in 2013. A solid resume, sponsorship deal or not.
The name has a shorter history than the trophy count suggests, though. For five years - 2021 through 2025 - this team played as Barbados Royals. Then, on May 13, 2026, it went back to being Barbados Tridents, as part of a public-private rebrand called "One Barbados." Under that plan, the Barbados government and Royals Sports Group have agreed in principle for the government to become a minority co-investor in the franchise, subject to the relevant approvals - Royals Sports Group, run by Manoj Badale, keeps majority control either way. Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley linked the switch to the country's 60th year of independence - not just a rebrand, in her framing, but a statement about national identity. A new kit built around Barbados' national colors came with it, along with a charity match planned later in the season.
CPL 2026 at a Glance
2026 is the first season to field seven franchises instead of six, with Jamaica Kingsmen joining as a new entrant. Trinbago Knight Riders arrive as defending champions, and the season closes where Barbados Tridents will be hoping to play their biggest match of the year - the final, at their own home ground, Kensington Oval.
